The Technical Application Leader will work with internal & external customers and IT staff to define and deliver innovative enterprise-class systems for the Kao Americas/global business based on sector, region, country, or company strategies within their functional area.  This individual will also provide day-to-day application support for break fix and enhancements.  This position will lead the ‘Mode 2’ App Dev and Integration Architecture space with potential direct reports.


  • Work with internal & external customers, business analysts, and other IT staff to define and deliver innovative enterprise class business solutions for the Kao Americas/EMEA business. Specific focus is on systems that need support from the Mode 2 application development space.  Mode 2 is typically (not always) more front end type business applications such as in Sales and Marketing.  Oftentimes these applications have shorter lifespans and it’s key to be fast and agile in this space.
  • Work directly with IT customers (process owners and key users) to compile and prioritize regional and global IT enabled business process initiatives.     
  • Lead and manage small to moderate sized regional and global projects, participate in various in-house and global projects as a team member, contribute to detailed project plans (likely just JIRA boards), monitor project (or area) budget, resolve issues, assist other project resources, communicate status (through online tools).
  • Possess knowledge of best practices in the Application Development and Integrations areas as well as modern collaboration technologies and articulate potential benefit/impacts to the business and EIS teams.
  • Provide outstanding customer support in the: analysis, design, configuration, development, and maintenance of applications in assigned areas. Work within defined SLA metrics.  Willingness to be “on call” and provide support outside normal business hours.
  • Architect and develop Mode 2 applications including modern APIs and AWS DevOps. Use modern DevOps architectures and development practices that include AWS Services and Continuous Integration.  Space will cover and use a multitude of tools and techniques.
  • Leverage Agile Scrum and Kanban on JIRA and Confluence.
  • Build strong relationships with EIS Leads and team members and freely exchange new ideas and suggestions for improvement within the IT and business community.
  • Pursue continuous improvement in data quality, application features, and performance.
  • Maintain awareness of state of the market technologies. Recommend and then implement solutions as they pertain to areas of responsibility


  • 5+ years of technical experience (Modern Application Devevelopment ‘Mode 2’ and Modern Integration (RESTful API) )
  • 5+ years of Application Design and System Architecture
  • Experienced with participating in 2+ full system Life Cycle Implementations
  • 3+ years experience using a structured application delivery methodology including Agile Scrum and Kanban
  • Project Management experience
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills in a business setting
  • University or Bachelor Degree in IT or business discipline
