  • Overview

    This individual will implement clinical studies in support of consumer understanding, technology development, formulation development and claims defense.  You will coordinate with cross-functional partners to understand the underlying goals and business needs behind study requests and determine feasibility to implement, along with developing and recommending robust study design and present results.  This individual will provide guidance to junior staff members in both study development/implementation and execution of scientific depth projects.  Ensure obligations in regards to documentation and panelist rights are maintained.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop suitable study design and implement clinical studies inclusive of coordination with other study staff, pre- & post-study documentation preparation, study logistics planning, measurements via bio-instrumentation, expert grading, etc., data & statistical analysis and interpretation of results.
    • Provide study design feedback to junior staff members to include a focus on training opportunities for staff
    • Participate in scientific depth projects either internally or with external partners such as the Skin Care Technology Development Group and serve as a resource for junior staff members.
    • Coordinate initial interaction with study requestors to understand overall project, fit with facility capabilities, and scheduling constraints.
    • Recognize process outages and participate in solution development. 
    • Build increasing depth of understanding of implications beyond logistics in study design... impact of business need, formula technology, instrument limitations, etc. for routine application of both business and science understanding to study design.
    • Build instrument theory & application knowledge and/or specialized methodology (consumer testing i.e. focus group moderation) to increase study design capabilities and implementation of clinical studies.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in a science requiring experimental design and implementation, such as chemistry, biology, physics or psychology.   Master's degrees in corresponding studies also a plus. 
    • 7+ years of hands-on experience in independent design, implementation and interpretation of clinical or scientific studies. 
    • Experience with bio-instrumentation and skin/hair physiology application, a plus. 
    • Expertise in clinical study design and all aspects of implementation.
    • In-depth knowledge of skin and hair clinical testing instrumentation and methodology.
    • Expertise in development and implementation of scientific and methods development projects in a logical, well-thought manner.
    • Clear and concise communication with a variety of cross-functional partners.
    • Flexibility to make quick adaptations to rapidly changing needs.
    • Ability to recognize organizational process outages and develop solutions.
