  • Overview

    This position supports the Kao Collins Inc. subsidiary, which is a separate business entity from Kao USA. Kao Collins support printing solutions and ink manufacturing. 

     

    We are seeking a quality control lab manager, who can run our ink QC lab department.  This is a hands-on position and requires the manager to be involved in the work.  This is a salaried position during 1st shift.  Travel is rarely expected as part of this job.  Local candidates are preferred.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage a team of QC lab technicians, which includes, but not limited to, conducting performance reviews, taking disciplinary actions as required, coaching/mentoring/training sessions, team building events, etc.
    • Understand and know how to make adjustments to bring inks into QC specification.
    • Be able to complete checking most inks from production within the same day.
    • Ensure that raw materials are acceptable to use in production and finished goods (inks) are within QC specification ranges.
    • Maintain QC lab equipment and supplies.
    • Manage the raw material and ink retains.
    • Generate Certificates of Analysis for inks.
    • Work closely with R&D, production, shipping, and purchasing groups.
    • Follow and enforce all company policies/regulations and lab safety rules within the QC lab group.
    • Perform other duties/tasks/assignments/projects as assigned by the plant manager or as the business needs.
    • Adhere to the Kao Way standards at all times.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or chemical engineering (or an equivalent degree may be considered).
    • 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience, and was in charge of a team of at least 3 direct reports.
    • 5 years’ experience working in a QC and/or R&D lab environment.
    • Strong computer skills including MS Office software products.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong work ethic, shows initiative, and self-motivated.
    • Complete duties/tasks/assignments/projects in a timely fashion.
    • High degree of integrity and honesty.
    • Reliable and dependable.
    • Detail-oriented.
    • Quick learner to new processes, techniques, equipment, or systems.
    • High degree of professionalism.
    • Able to follow procedures, instructions, and directions.
